Stop Dieting! Practice Intuitive Eating instead.

“What is the first step for someone who is struggling with food?..”  I asked Gillian Hood, an Intuitive Eating Counselor.  Her advice is to STOP DIETING!

Intuitive Eating

Gillian discovered the Intuitive Eating approach and at first was reluctant in trying it.  However, after years of chronic dieting and binge eating that started at a young age, she knew something had to change.  Once she applied this practice, her body settled into its natural weight and she finally found peace with food.

Intuitive Eating is the opposite of food restriction (dieting).  It’s paying attention to the body’s inherent needs.  Is it telling you that you’re hungry?  Or maybe it’s yelling at you that you’re full!  I had this experience the other night when I was at a party.  Yes I indulged, but didn’t listen to my body telling me it had enough.  I paid for it when I got home as I physically didn’t feel good.  It’s all about tuning in to our body’s signals and respecting it.
