RESOURCES about HABIT FORMATION:
This is one of my favorite books about Habit Formation where James Clear has provided practical approaches to form good habits and say goodbye to bad ones.
Your actions reveal how badly you want something. If you keep saying something is a priority but you never act on it, then you don’t really want it. It’s time to have an honest conversation with yourself. Your actions reveal your true motivations.” – James Clear
BJ Fogg is the world’s leading expert on habit formation and I had the opportunity to learn about his work from when I took a course to become a Behavior Change Specialist. It all boils down to tiny habits! As tiny as flossing only one tooth which is what BJ Fogg did to develop a habit of flossing every night. What I loved about this book besides the valuable insights is the design! You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the color palettes and placement of images/graphics in the book.
We live in an aspiration-driven culture that is rooted in instant gratification. We find it difficult to enact or even accept incremental progress. Which is exactly what you need to cultivate meaningful long-term change.” – BJ Fogg
The first book I read about the power of habits where I fleshed it out further on this blog post. One of his main points is the formation of a keystone habit – one powerful habit that sets a domino effect towards more healthy habits.
The Golden Rule of Habit Change: You can’t extinguish a bad habit, you can only change it.” – Charles Duhigg
My Favorite Journals
Over the past 30+ years I’ve collected journals to write down my thoughts, insights, gratitude, and prayers. Some of the journals I’ve used are beautiful notebooks with blank pages of paper, however I’ve also used a few that have prompts and spaces to fill in.
I’ve used this journal for morning and night journaling. I loved starting and ending my day on a positive note with gratitude and the best experiences of the day.
I was drawn to this journal when I trained for a marathon in the past. It’s more than just a training log as it provides a space for self-reflection as well additional information on training for races.
Favorite Online Food Market!
A few years ago, I signed up for a subscription to Thrive Market – it’s been described as a Costco for healthy food 🙂 Here’s a better descriptor from their website: Thrive Market is an online, membership-based market making the highest quality, healthy and sustainable products available for every budget, lifestyle, and geography.
However if you’re a teacher, first responder, student, veteran, or from a low-income family – you can apply for a free membership on this link => thrivemarket.com/thrive-gives
Otherwise, I’d like to invite you to check out the market and see if it’s a good fit for your foodie needs. You can use this link – thrv.me/EAc2cu – to receive 25% off your first order.
